Kodong Klan has been facing backlash over their recent performances on their tour with complaints coming from fans both on ground and online. Charisma, a member of the group, has stood up to address questions that were posed by concerned fans after their experiences from the shows.

“Apologies for not getting back to this sooner. Between last week’s shooting and the kisumu tour things have been hectic. But here we go! First and foremost thank you for feedback. The tour is for the people and the feedback is valuable. Also at least people give a damn”

Charisma continued by saying Kodong was and is meant to benefit the individuals and the collective. Part of why they came together was to build each other and to make things that were otherwise impossible possible by pulling our efforts.
A tour for example is very expensive. Each of the last two locations has cost us millions, serious millions. They are funding it themselves. No sponsors but because they pulled together the burden is easier. They are not compromising on quality as we seek to give every region a similar show so all or 90% of the set ups are coming from Nairobi.

“Most of the requirements for this show can only be facilitated with gear from Nairobi. So you can imagine ata profitability haiko but that is not our sole or rather main purpose. It is to showcase and a quality showcase at that. Now as much as it is a “kodong tour” it is also an opportunity for us to showcase our individual brands. Imagine if we put all the work and the money behind this and did not use that unattainable (at this point) stage individually to market ourselves. Ni bad business tbh. You are right, but half right in saying if i want a watendawili set i will go woza world, if i want a sudah show lion of sudah, if i want a charisma show kuna Charisma live and so the disko tour should be the disko album. The flip side of it is for most other regions but Nairobi this is not the reality for them. For a lot of them this is the first time experiencing the full live shows and arrangements of the kodong boys songs not just for the disko album but the individual catalogues.

To be fair for kisumu for example we did 8 of 14 of the disko album. They were 6 in eldoret but i shared the feedback you guys had posted and we added songs with the limited time we had between the shows so tunaskiza for sure gang.
The set also has 30 songs. It is 3 to 3 and half hours. Maybe that is why inakaa kama hakuna enough disko songs. Every individual artist has 2/3 of their solo songs plus disko album. So really ni the individual songs tunagusia tu. Ni juu tu tuko wengi kama ghasia.

So yeah this is a big opportunity for our individual brands too. I for one had never had a show in kisumu and i had a massive stage and audience to showcase myself as Charisma and also as a Kodong member this past weekend. And part of why my new video “True love” is trending on YT and doing great numbers is the chance to sell it on that stage.
Maybe once you watch the show in whatever region you are from it will make more sense but until then believe in us and also trust me, we are taking the feedback. It is leg 2 of a nationwide tour that will also go international. We are also learning with every step.

Some lessons easier and others harder than others, but we are learning. We are doing what has only been facilitated by big corporates. The only other act that has done a successful tour in Kenya is sauti sol who had sponsorship btw and wallahi ask them how difficult it is.
I tried and failed when i launched my album (did two cities) coz it was not making business sense especially as i wanted a certain quality so Kodong being a collective lightens the burden.
But please please note that as we take on the disko tour, it is not just for the Kodong album. It is a chance for us to showcase our live music all around Kenya and soon the world.

Disko symbolizes a party and that is what are giving you. That with all the diversity in the group. Maybe Nairobi tact na set will be different juu ni “home ground” idk. But tuko open minded.
Thank you and keep sending the feedback. We value it a lot 🫶🏾
Meru next stop – july 26th but for now see you on the streets Wednesday” the singer concluded.
