ELDORET, 15 October 2026: The Permanent Presidential Music Commission (PPMC) is leading the entertainment line-up for this year’s Mashujaa Day celebrations, drawing performers and cultural groups from Uasin Gishu, Nandi and Elgeyo Marakwet counties.

The national ceremony will take place on 20 October at Kipchoge Keino Stadium in Eldoret. Hosting the event across the three counties gives the region a chance to display its talent and heritage within a national occasion.

To build the programme, PPMC held auditions in all three counties. The artists chosen represent a range of musical styles and age groups, and they will perform alongside ceremonial and cultural acts.

A programme that bridges generations

Audiences can expect a Gen Z production, gospel performances, a showcase of popular hit songs, and traditional ceremonial presentations. The mix brings fresh, contemporary sounds into the celebrations while honouring the region’s cultural roots.

Pupils from schools across the three counties will also join the cultural segments, representing their communities through music, dance and performance.

The work behind the stage

Delivering the programme has involved scouting talent, running auditions, planning productions, holding rehearsals and coordinating the different segments. PPMC is now bringing the performers and productions together ahead of the big day.

The Commission is mandated to coordinate music and dance at national functions. It also supports the growth of the music sector and works to preserve and promote Kenya’s musical and cultural heritage.

PPMC Director Dr Donald Otoyo said Mashujaa Day offers a valuable stage for showcasing the country’s musical talent and cultural diversity. He said that by uniting the three counties, the Commission is giving artists from these regions a national audience, while ensuring that music and dance remain central to the nation’s celebrations and heritage.

The programme will form part of the day’s tribute to Kenya’s heroes and heroines, with artists, cultural practitioners and young performers all contributing.
