Nairobi, Kenya – Feb 28, 2025 – The 2nd Kenya ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) Awards ceremony recognises excellence in sustainability and corporate responsibility. Local and international representatives from business, government and non-governmental organisations were part of the gala where Münzer Kenya was honoured as Sustainable Energy Champion.

New paths for our environment and society.

‘After only three years since Münzer Kenya was founded, we are proud to see that our vision to tackle some of today’s biggest problems is already working and well recognized,’ said Harald Sigl, director corporate communications at Münzer Kenya.

In his acceptance speech Harald Sigl explained the company’s vision for the future of East-Africa: ‘Münzer Kenya has succeeded in building a bridge between waste management and sustainable energy. Being honoured with this ESG Award shows that we are on the right track. The next step towards a better tomorrow for us all is now to create sustainable opportunities on the labour market together in a growing society in Africa.’

With the new ‘Ucollect’ initiative, Münzer is not only creating jobs, but the company is also creating new opportunities for entrepreneurs. ‘We want to launch a start-up offensive to tackle the two major problems of ‘mountains of rubbish’ and ‘unemployment’ with one stone. Join us on www.muenzer.com.’

International cooperation for a greener future.

The event provided an opportunity to share ideas and strategies to drive sustainable business practices globally. Münzer Kenya is convinced that the country can take a leading role in the sustainable energy transition in Africa with innovative approaches, Sigl continued.

The success of this year’s ESG Award event underlines the growing importance of sustainability across all sectors and highlights the progress Kenyan companies are making in reducing their environmental impact and promoting corporate social responsibility. As the global debate on climate change continues to evolve, the commitment of businesses, governments and NGOs to create a sustainable world has never been more important.
