President Uhuru Kenyatta and President-elect William Ruto have rallied MPs in their respective political formations ahead of today’s crucial vote in Parliament, their final political contest before the transfer of power on Tuesday.
In the Senate, former Vice-President Kalonzo Musyoka is up against former Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi, who has been endorsed by the President-elect.
The two rival coalitions are also tussling for the deputy Speaker posts in the two Houses.

Also in the political tussle later today, there will also be contests for the deputy-speaker position in both the national assembly and the senate where William Ruto-backed Gladys Boss Sholei will be battling it out with Daadab Member of Parliament, Faarah Maalim who held the national assembly deputy speaker post between 2007 and 2013.
In the Senate, on the other hand, Kilifi Senator Stewart Madzayo of Azimio will compete against his Meru counterpart Mr Kathuri Murungi of Kenya Kwanza.
