The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) has launched new bus routes from JKIA to several destinations in Nairobi.
KAA, in partnership with bus service companies Metrotrans East Africa Limited & Super Metro unveiled electric commuter buses, and lauded the move as a headway towards sustainability and conserving the environment.
“These electric buses mark a significant stride towards sustainability, perfectly aligning with the National Government’s strategic goals. We’re committed to adopting green energy and promoting eco-friendly practices and solutions,” said KAA chairman Caleb Kositany during the launch event on Wednesday.
On her part, JKIA Airport Manager Selina Gor noted that the introduction of the commuter electric buses is not merely a technological advancement but also a testament to KAA’s commitment to enhancing better passenger experience at JKIA.
Among the routes the EV buses will ply from JKIA include Kitengela, Expressway-CBD, Utawala – Embakasi – Outering – CBD, and Expressway – Westlands.
This comes in the wake of President William Ruto’s commitment to invest in green energy by introducing more environmental-friendly reforms in the transport, education and trade sectors
