Wizkid gets 2 nominations in the 64th Grammy Awards

It’s been a good year for Nigerian singer-songwriter Wizkid from getting several accolades to breaking barriers in getting an Afrobeat song to Hot 100 list, to the multitudes of streams he has garnered from his songs and collaborating with a powerhouse of the Gen Z Justin Bieber. Now he has something else to add to that. The young singer just got to the nomination list of the 64 Grammy awards.

The list of the 64th Grammys was released yesterday and West Africans seem to have represented the continent.  In the Best Global music Performance artists like Angelique Kidjo, Burna Boy, Femi Kuti, Yo-Yo Ma, Wizkid and Tems represented.

Wizkid also made it to the best global music category with his “Made In Lagos” album.  He will be competing against,  “Mother Nature” by Angelique Kidjo, “Legacy +” by  Femi Kuti And Made Kuti, and “Voice Of Bunbon” by  Ghanaian artist  Rocky Dawuni.

“Made In Lagos” has 13 songs including Reckless, Ginger, Piece of Me, Essence amongst many others.

The annual event will take place on the 31st of January at the crypto.com arena in Los Angeles.
