Kelly Nonlanhla Khumalo is one of the few Female South African artists who have managed to get better with time in the art of music. Born on November 11th, 1984 in Nquthu, Kwa Zulu Natal Kelly discovered her singing path while singing in a gospel talent search competition. Her endowed vocal prowess earned her a record deal with Bomsai Entertainment where she released her debut album  “T.O.K”, a project which earned her a nomination as the Best Newcomer of 2005 the Afro Pop music and song of the year at the South Africa Music Awards.
From the time she released her debut album Kelly has since released 8 studio albums namely “Itshitshi”, “Siyajabula”,”Simply Kelly”, “The Past, The Present”, “The Future”, “Back to My Roots”, “My Truth”,  “Unleashed” and most recently “The Voice of America”
Kelly’s prolific music prowess is decorated with awards that she has won over the years in the South African Music scene. Her studio album “The Past, The Present” won her the best female artist of the year at the South Africa Music Awards. In 2014 her single. “Asine” was released and nominated for Song of The Year at Metro FM Awards while her album, “Back to my Roots” was nominated for both the Best African Pop Album and Best African Adult Album at South African Music Awards.
On August 28, 2020, her single “Empini” was released as the title track for the “Voice of Africa” album. The song was certified Gold by the Record industry of South Africa and went on to receive a nomination at the All Africa Music Awards.
Kelly Khumalo considers herself a gender-based activist having been a victim of domestic violence herself. In 2021, she started her own reality show on Showmax called “Life with Kelly Khumalo”
