1500m Men Heats:
Timothy Cheruiyot, Brian Komen, and Reynold Kipkorir Cheruiyot have advanced to the semi-finals. Komen placed second in his heat with a time of 3:36.31, Cheruiyot finished fifth in his heat clocking 3:35.39, and Reynold Kipkorir secured fourth place in his heat with a time of 3:37.12.
800m Women Heats:
Mary Moraa and Naomi Korir successfully moved on to the semi-finals, demonstrating strong performances. However, Emily Chebet did not advance past the heats.
10000m Men Final:
Kenyan athletes delivered notable performances in the 10000m final, underscoring their prowess in long-distance events.
3000m Steeplechase Women:
Beatrice Chepkoech and Faith Cherotich advanced to the final, highlighting Kenya’s continued strength in the steeplechase discipline.
5000m Women Final:
Beatrice Chebet secured gold, and Faith Kipyegon took silver in the women’s 5000m final. Kipyegon’s initial disqualification and subsequent reinstatement added a dramatic twist to their victories.
800m Women Final:
Mary Moraa earned a bronze medal in the women’s 800m final, further adding to Kenya’s medal count.
Other Events
Rugby Sevens:
Kenya’s men’s rugby sevens team, Shujaa, began their Olympic campaign with matches against Argentina and Australia. Despite a tough start, the team exhibited strong determination and resilience.
