Clout has become the norm and has been used multiple times by Kenyan artists to hype upcoming projects. This happened, again, when Parroty went up against Mr. Seed and ended up promoting an upcoming track with Wadagliz.
Parroty started what most Kenyan music fans thought would escalate into a proper beef but the story was cut short when it turned out that he was doing that in preparation for a new song. The Wanati member had earlier claimed that Mr. Seed and Jegede had teamed up to steal a song he had done back in 2022. The new song ‘Kanairo’ was redone and involved Mr. Seed, Jegede, Trio Mio and Only One Delo.
Mr. Vunulu, as Parroty is also known by, alleged that he had recorded the song and fans could still hear his vocals in the chorus of the song. Parroty gavve Mr. Seed 24 hours to clear up the air but nothing surfaced. The song is still up on YouTube and currently has 54 thousand views and climbing.
Parroty later dropped a new song on Friday featuring the viral group Wadagliz. The song was uploaded on digital streaming platforms and although it may be too early to judge if the clout chasing worked, the trend is becoming a little bit boring.
Clout has worked for various artists all over the world but in Kenya it has been a bit tough to crack it. We have had bizzare ones such as the Diana Bahati and Willy Paul thing that was terrible when it was executed. Lately Mulamwah has been trying it out by using his relationship to promote his upcoming comedy show. All these antics are being done because artists don’t believe they can get the same numbers by doing a simple marketing plan.
