He was born in London and raised in Lagos.

The legend has been in the music since under his father’s band “Egypt 80” since 1986. He is one of the artists who have been nominated for the 2022 Grammy awards. He has been nominated under Best Global Music Album with Legacy + which he has collaborated with his son ‘Made Kuti’.He goes against other artists like Angelique Kidjo, Wizkid amongst many others. Posting on Instagram he shared his news with his followers.

Announcing on Instagram he posted, @Femiakuti When you reach a certain level of success, it’s normal for everyone to try and attach, but in the process of this, it is important that nobody understates the amount of work you had put into it, that you had and still have to put into yourself. Everyone will really love to claim your success as their own too, but only a very few people were really there for you through it all, and those people will be duly appreciated, but the success is all YOU, it is YOU who went thru sleepless nights, had mental breakdowns, had self doubts, and many more, nd it’s still YOU who overcame all those nd climbed the ladder of success.

But either ways, make I no yarn long yarns.

Congratulations to @femiakuti 7 times no be joke ooo!!!!

Congratulations to @madekuti . Everyone saying this is your first, maybe they just don’t know it’s your second, but I’m not going to lecture anybody, we wey know, we know.

Congratulations to @yeniakuti ! Wow! The actual greatest, and most supportive! She’s been there from the very very beginning, and I know how proud she must be right now, words cannot even explain this! P.S, next year we’re changing her name to ‘Mama Grammy’

Congrats to them all!
