When it comes to Kenyan albums, Victims of Madness by Wakadinali should be considered one if not the best album that has come out in the last 10 years. The album embodied the journey that the three members and the whole Rong Rende crew have been on since they started.
The album is still the most streamed on different Kenyan platforms, staying steady since it was released. It has gained praises from all Hip Hop heads and has also been accepted in the mainstream media.
Wakadinali envisioned the album to be a testimony of their beginnings and their day ones getting centerstage. Their track Morio Anzenza which is part of the album has the Rong Rende group including Dyana Cods who has grown to be one of the most sought after females artists in the country at the moment.
Tracks such as Lockdown and Extra Pressure gave the album a relatable feel taking the Eastlands crew through what it meant to be an artist in the Covid era. They explored themes such as life in the East and how the struggle for financial freedom was their daily routine.
XXL and Nyara Nyara showed fans that drill was an area that the group could still dominate beside underground Hip Hop. Their other albums featured hardcore beats and topics but through these songs Wakadinali resonated with their fans and made the album enjoyable.
Avoid Those People had superstars on it and it became the song that really sold the album. Heavyweights such as Abbas Kubaff, new school kids such as Breeder and Boutross gave the album the balance it needed in crossing over between generations. Elisha Elai coming in with dope verses really shed the light on the kind of people that the crew was not avoiding.
