Why Bien Got a Better Collabo from Marioo Compared to Diamond Platnumz

Kenyan superstar Bien, formerly of Sautisol, recently landed a collaboration with East Africa’s best artist Diamond Platnumz amid mixed reactions from the fans. The song was dropped with mild response from the fans who started comparing it to the monster hit that was Nairobi featuring Marioo. The two artists, Diamond Platnumz and Marioo, featured Bien but the latter got more plays compared the the latest one.

The song Nairobi that had Bien and Marioo featured a catchy melody at the beginning which made it memorable too so many fans. The song had replay value that eclipses Katam that had Diamond Platnumz on it. Speaking from a fans perspective, Katam did not carry that catchy tune with it that is a necessity for a track to turn into a banger.

Marioo also put his heart into it when he got on a song with Bien. The song sounded better because you could feel the soul in it. There was nothing special about it on face value but when the song hits your ears you can definitely tell that the two artists were interested in the output. Katam on the other end felt like it was about time that the song was done. Bien was becoming bigger by the day and this would definitely attract Diamond Platnumz. The song felt like more of a business deal and not a work of art.

In terms of numbers, the audio to Katam got to a milllion views in less than 24 hours. This is to expected since Diamond Platnumz has a humungous subscription on YouTube. Anything posted on his channel would run the same numbers no matter what it was. There was no pressure in terms of viewership because the Tanzanian megastar has built it over the years. Loyalty from his diehards was bound to elevate the song to one of the most trending tracks this week.

The fans are also another factor that the two songs are being compared side by side. In terms of anticipation, both songs didn’t quite market themselves properly because we only learned about them a few hours to the official release. However, there was significant attention towards the Diamond Platnumz collaboration. This created higher expectations from the fans. Higher expectations at times can turn into mild disappointment, which I feel is the case with this song.
