The much-anticipated concert by legendary Congolese musical act Koffi Olomide will not be going down as planned. The concert by Olomide, real name Antoine Christophe Agbepa, and the Quartier Latin International orchestra had been slated for December 11 at the Waterfront Mall in Karen.

The event has since been postponed indefinitely, and tickets purchased by revelers ahead of the show will be refunded. In a press statement the organizers of the event ‘Aces and Light’ said that they were postponing the event in order to ensure quality and quantity is served to the Kenyan market. This comes after Kenyans had rejected the superstar after his assault incident at the JKUAT airport which led to his imprisonment.

Netizens still hold some hurt over the incident even after he apologized publicly to Kenyans. Here are some of the comments

@Akinyihongo As long as he disrespects women…akwende!

@manumanujo254 Has huyu jamaa ni Kama alikataliwa Kenya juu Yä hilo tendo la kumpiga dancer wake mateke

@empress_dee_younger Cancelling international artist to perform in Kenya will NEVER improve Kenyan music or will not sell Kenyan music. Ukweli usemwe though it’s painful. Content ni zero wasani wa kizazi hichi cha kutoka na miguu think kuimba matusi ni kuwa mwanamziki , wana mziki you must know what you are giving out passion na kadhalika. Tutaishi tukiskiza nyimbo za watu hadi waimbi wakiamua kutuimbia nyimbo tuzitakazo sisi sio wao

@chebetpinkie11 What is hard to say that the event didn’t accumulate enough revenue hence the cancellation? Kofi spoiled his name in Kenya that day he hit her female dancer at jkia

@nizer_00a Why are you inviting this women insulter for a concert in Kenya,,, Kenyans should boycott attending it,,,

The gallery, VIP, and VVIP tickets were going for Ksh.3,500, Ksh.7,000 and Ksh.10,000 respectively.

The event organizer, Aces and Lights Ltd, has said the hiatus will allow them to better organize for future concerts to ensure they meet the standards of all Kenyan musical lovers.
