Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KenGen) has officially unveiled its driver lineup for this year’s Safari Rally Kenya, reaffirming its commitment to Kenyan motorsport while strengthening its partnership with the World Rally Championship (WRC).

In a bold show of support, KenGen has also donated KES 3,000,000 toward the staging of the globally celebrated rally, underscoring its dedication not only to sustainable energy leadership but also to nurturing sporting excellence.

Defending Champion Leads the Charge

Headlining KenGen’s rally team is Andrew Muiruri, last year’s champion, who returns to defend his crown on the punishing terrains of Naivasha. Muiruri’s commanding performance in the previous edition cemented his status as one of Kenya’s top rally drivers, and expectations are high as he prepares to tackle the demanding gravel stages once again.

Regional Talent on the Rise

Joining Muiruri is Rwanda’s rally queen, Queen Kalimpinya, one of East Africa’s most inspiring female motorsport figures. Her inclusion highlights the growing regional dimension of the Safari Rally and reinforces the increasing presence of women in competitive rallying.

Also representing the KenGen stable is Ishmael Azeli, a determined and steadily rising competitor eager to make his mark on one of the toughest rallies on the WRC calendar.

Powering Performance On and Off the Track

KenGen’s sponsorship goes beyond branding. The company’s KES 3 million contribution to the WRC Safari Rally reflects a broader vision of empowering sports, supporting community engagement, and positioning Kenya as a premier global sporting destination.

As one of Africa’s leading renewable energy producers, KenGen continues to align itself with high-impact national events that showcase innovation, resilience, and excellence … qualities mirrored in rally racing itself.

With a formidable lineup featuring a defending champion, a regional trailblazer, and a rising talent, KenGen heads into this year’s Safari Rally determined to make an impact — both on the leaderboard and in its continued support of Kenya’s motorsport ecosystem.
